Betting With A Swagger

by guestcontributor on November 22, 2011

SwaggerI am not a chronic gambler but I have friends who practically bet their lives on some odds onlythey can decode. There is something about gamblers. Their confidence defies the fact that most of their bets are actually a losing one. And yet they don’t lose that poise. Even at a losingstreak, they would don that poker face and appear to the man across table that they have allthe aces. If you blink and get fooled, you would lose to a losing card simply because got fooledby that confidence.

It’s not some really some hidden extra-sensory mutant ability. What they have is swagger. Itdoesn’t always make them with but it projects a winning perception. And it is because of that, that such gamblers are able to sustain their gambling. They win enough. Why? Because inmany cases, the winning perception that they project indeed to make them win. Perhaps it iswhat is called in feng shui as being a magnet of positive energy.

Beyond the actual swag is the attitude. It is the attitude the refuses to give up hope even in thegrim and real possibility of losing. It is the placing bets almost without any trace of hesitationand in a complete smug face of certainty. There are traces of art in the whole exercise. That attitude, while doesn’t actually make them rich, may have actually have forged theirremarkable unbending spirit.

Sometimes, winning bets, if really about anything, has something to do with the one betting. Ifwe are to believe in luck, who would best attract it than the person that is most positive aboutthe whole idea? Positive vibes are said to invite positive outcome. Can anything be morepositive than a winning bet?!
